I am an experienced Audacity user. Recently downloaded 2.6.1 Audacity to a Toshba X305-Q706, Vista Premium, lots of speed and memory. When I open a new project, then try to amplify a small portion of the file, the Audacity application immediately closes down. Any suggestions/solutions?

Re: amplification closes Audacity
I suggest you try using the Beta version - despite the "unstable" label given to it 1.3.7 is now pretty stable and mature now. And if I have read a posting on the French section of the forum then it looks like 1.3.7 will be the last beta to be produced and the developers work on a Release Candidate version.
I have used 1.3 for a while now, since 1.3.4 - 1.3.7 has proved eminently stable for my use - and yes I do use the amplify effect quite a lot.
