Using my new Microtrack II, I recorded some material, clicking the 'marker' button to place cues into the sample. However, when I open the resulting .WAV file in Audacity 1.3.7(Unicode), I don't see any markers.
I tried renaming the file from .WAV to .BWF but still no markers visible. I tried clicking ctrl-M bit got a message saying it was 'Disallowed for some reason'.
Can anyone please tell me how I can display the markers ? Audacity is a brilliant application and I really can't believe it doesn't understand markers ?
Cheers,
GB.
Markers from Microtrack in BWF format ?

Re: Markers from Microtrack in BWF format ?
Standard WAV files (Microsoft PCM WAV) do not support markers (or meta-tag data).
I can see no reference in Audacity or the Audacity documentation of it supporting BWF.
The label track in Audacity is designed for use within Audacity projects. Although labels may be exported as text, they are not exported as part of any audio file format.
See here for a typical use of labels in Audacity: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... ate_tracks

Re: Markers from Microtrack in BWF format ?
Hi Steve,
Thanks for that. It's odd that Audacity can recognise and open a BWF file though ?
What a disappointment - that would be such a useful facility. I wonder if the developers might add it in a future release. Do you know if there is a wishlist ?
Cheers,
Geoff.

The wish list is here: http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=20
If you post there, after it has been up for a month (to allow time for others to comment/discuss/add support, one of the trusty forum moderators will transfer it to the Audacity wiki.
I remember one other request for proper support of the BWF format, so that makes 2 at least.
If you look in the wiki, you may find that the request already exists. If it does, then you can either sign up to the wiki and add your vote, or post in the forum in the feature request section and one of the moderators will add a vote on your behalf.
