any way to change bitrate of MP3 export?

I am working on voice material with original 64 bit. After finishing edit, the exported mp3 is alway 128 bit, waste of resources. I went through all the configure settings and manuals, no clue founded yet.
Wonder is it possible?
Any help is appreciated.

Correct me, but Audacity 1.3 has the ability to set the MP3 bitrate at export. Open up the Options panel in the export window.

I missed the obvious. Went through all the main settings, neglected the Option button in the place usually for file naming. A lesson: never take any thing for granted.

I know this an old post, but I was unable to find this option till I went searching the forums and found this post.

Seems to be an odd place for this option.
Been better in the EXPORT tab area...

Sorry, I have the same problem, and I can't find the Export window.

the only Export button I could find (in the file menu) is grayed out when I want to apply chain, and that's why I installed the beta in the first place




on the other hand, when I do import a file firs and then select Export I get this

From the pictures, Audacity will not Export anything unless there is a show on the timeline to Export. It will Save A Project because a Project is an editorial environment, not a sound file.

I "OK" my way around the metadata editor. I don't think I've ever typed anything in those boxes. I think there is a preference setting where the dialog doesn't show up at all which is how the older Audacity worked.
