Can not import Wav file from a Samsung camera

Post by dadu547 » Mon Mar 23, 2009 9:26 pm

Using Audacity v1.3.7 I was surprised to discover it can not open wav files recorded with my digital camera Samsung S730 (in voice recorder mode).

I get the following error message : "Audacity recognized the type of the file "C:tempxxxxx.wav", but was unable to import it. <Ok> <Help>"

Please do you have any idea or web link about that ?

The file is a compressed "ADPCM WAV" file rather than a regular "PCM WAV" file.

You should be able to import it into Audacity if you use the latest 1.3 beta version, but you will probably also need to have FFMPEG correctly installed. See Here: http://www.audacityteam.org/manual/inde ... tallffmpeg
