Problems with headphones (windows vista)

Title says it really, the problem is that when i listen to audio off a site ( you tube for example ) the sound plays but VERY quiet how do i turn it up? looked around control panel etc for it but i cant find and also im new to vista. Will be gratefull if someone can help

Right-click over the speaker icon in the System Tray > Playback Devices. Or click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound (if you're using "Classic View" there's a direct link to "Sound" in the Control Panel), then click on the "Playback" tab. Right-click over the sound device your headphones are plugged into > Properties, click the "Levels" tab and turn up the slider at the top (probably says "Speakers" or "Headphones").
