hi-

i accidentally deleted a project i was working on and saved the replacement (no temporary file). i then opened the backup, copied and pasted it into a new project and saved it as an aup.

the audacity wiki page mentions that if you open and edit the backup it could cause a systemic problem.
my question: will CUTTING AND PASTING the backup to a new aup project cause any problems down the road?

I'm unsure why you needed to copy and paste - Just opening the backup aup and saving it with a new name should have done the job.

If the project is fully working now, then it is probably OK.
To be on the safe side, keep regular backup copies of the project ("Save As.." project001, "Save As.." project002, "Save As.." project003, ....), AND Export each of the tracks as WAV files as additional back-ups.

thank you so much! i know there were other ways of recovering the project reccommended on the wiki site, but this seemed the easiest route. i'm feeling better that even opening up the backup project was okay in the first place!!

i will definately take your advice re: backups and wav files.
