Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Export File information

Post by vasgen » Sun Feb 22, 2009 5:20 pm

I am a new user of Audacity 1.3.6 beta on a Windows Vista platform. Great product! I have been digitizing some old and rare LP's. The goal is to create WAV files that I can upload to my Iriver Clix MP3 player. No problem creating files and storing them in my hard drive. When I double click on the file icon, Windows media player has no problem accessing the file. Trouble seems to come in the information that Audacity asks for in the export process (song title, album name, year, genre). For some unknown reason, windows does not recognize it in the file "properties" and consequently it gets screwed up in Windows Media Player Library function. It is the library function that is used to sych to the Clix. Is this common? How do you fix it?

I moved this post from the 1.2 section to here in the 1.3 section where it belongs.

I encounter no problems in using Audacity 1.3.x in exporting WAV files. But I do have that metatag data request. turned off in my preferences. To do tsis go to Edit > Preferences > Import/Export and un-check the box thay says Show Metadat Editor prior to export

BTW: You say that you are exporting WAVs for your MP3 player - are you actually loading WAVs in the player or is there software that converts the WAVs to MP3 as you import (iTunes does this for me on my iPod)?
