How to turn down playback volume while recording?

I am trying to turn down the volume of playback when recording from a microphone, I tried the output volume slider but it does nothing. Thanks
I bet you're going to find that the slider you're looking for is buried in the Windows Control Panel.
I also bet you're going to find that recording and producing with one computer doing everything is going to be so awkward that you'll invest in speakers with volume controls on them...like I did. An alternate is to run your computer through your entertainment system and use that volume control. You'll need that sort of thing anyway to hear what you're doing in high enough quality.
