Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Effects Plug-Ins not showing up.

Post by tophtml » Mon Dec 29, 2008 8:56 pm

I just installed LADSPA plug-ins into the Audacity "Plug-Ins" folder, I restarted Audacity and none of them are showing up.

I'm still getting only the plug-ins that came with the program. Any way to get The Beta version of Audacity to recognize these plug-ins?

Thanks.

Plug-ins are often distributed as zip files - they must be un-zipped into the Audacity plug-in folder.

Note that if you previously had Audacity 1.2 installed, then you will have 2 Audacity folders. The Audacity 1.3 folder can be found in the "Program Files" folder and will be labelled as "Audacity 1.3 beta" (or something like that) - the Plug-ins folder is directly inside that folder.

I am having the same problem, the plugins are in C: > Program Files > Audacity > Plugins, and this is the first time I've had any version of Audacity installed on this computer.

Yep, the LADSPA plug-ins have an installation program which places the DLL files directly into the plug-in folder.

I have the DLLs but no listing of the effects plug-ins on the Audacity Beta interface.

FYI, the nyquist effects don't show up either. Both LADSPA and NYQUIST are supposed to have built-in support in Audacity.

Let me guess, you're using Audacity 1.3.6?
This version has a new feature which is to sort effects into categories. As this is a brand new feature, few of the plug-ins have been updated to take advantage of it, so they are probably all hidden away in the bottom category - what's it called, "unsorted" or "miscellaneous" or something like that.

I'm using 1.3.6, and the LADSPA effects aren't showing up in the "unsorted" category.

That could be the problem - I don't think that is the default directory for Audacity 1.3.6
It should be something like:
C: Program FilesAudacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)Plug-Ins

All I'm getting under the menu item "Effects" are

Amplifier > Normalize

Utility > Fade In
Fade Out
Noise Removal
Normalize
Truncate Silence

Leveller . . .

No Unsorted group, just the default stuff, even though the plug-in folder is full of effects.

It should be something like:
C: Program FilesAudacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode)Plug-Ins
I tried that installation (default values) and that doesn't work either. Audacity recognizes the LAME and FFMPEG installation just fine, but they are in the main directory.
