Hello, when I'm recording something, it doesn't record from my pc when I play a music file but it records anything outside the computer such as human voice or telephone ringing...Does anybody know how to make it properly record the music/sound off the computer instead of the 'microphone' outside the computer??
thanks a lot for any info.
how to shut off output microphone?

Re: how to shut off output microphone?
Windows has been trying to hide and turn off the ability to do this because it causes enormous problems. It used to be known as "What You Hear," and it allows you to record the speaker output of the computer--whatever is on it.
It's still there, although it's getting harder and harder to find.

Macs have never been able to do this without help. Most of the questions on the Windows forum have nothing to do with Audacity. They are questions about how to run the Windows Sound Control Panel.
