Export to Cubase

Post by Serge » Sun Dec 21, 2008 9:54 pm

In order to transfer my tracks into Cubase software I tried the "Label Track" and the "Export Multiple" in WAV format but short tracks do not align properly. Is there a way to force the short tracks to export as the same length as the long tracks so that they align properly when imported in Cubase?

When you say short tracks, are these tracks that are starting in the middle of the song? Unless you have some "dead air" meaning recorded silence from the start to the beginning of that section (and if there are multiple sections on the same track, then in between as well, the export will only see the recorded section and not the space at the beginning.

I do all my recording in Audacity, then export each track as a WAV file into Cubase so I have a "little" experience with this.

If you have any tracks that do not start at exactly "time = 0.0000" (if they start before or after 0.0 seconds on the time line), then you will need to select that track (click just below the track name) and use "Mix and Render" (from the "Tracks" menu). The selected track will then be rendered and placed below all other existing tracks.

Repeat this for all tracks that do not start at 0.0 seconds.

When you have completed the track preparation, you now need to Export each track individually. To do this, select the first track (click below the track name) then from the File menu, select "Export Selection" and export in WAV format. Name the exported track appropriately so that you will know what it is when you import it into Cubase.

Your exported WAV files can now be imported into Cubase.

There is at present no method in Audacity of Exporting multiple tracks as individual files without going through each track manually and using "Export Selection". There has been a "feature request" posted asking for this feature - perhaps you would like to add your support for that feature. http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=7624
