Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Okay in my previous question I asked something about Audacity being stuck so I fixed it by uninstalling it and downloading a fresh copy of the installation and reinstalling it. Now it works, but something weird has happened and I don't know why it's happening. When I'm recording my guitar now, it doesn't sound clear, and it's only started happening when I reinstalled it. Now when I record, it records as a stereo track? Would that be the problem? And if so, how do I change it back to a (don't know what it is, just guessing) a mono track? Because it was fine when it used to record like that.

Thanks so much. Sorry, I don't really know much about this.

You can set the number of recording channels (1 - mono, 2 - stereo) in Audacity Preferences.
Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences
Look on the "Audio I/O" tab.

Since you had problems with your previous install, it is probably a good idea to completely reset Audacity preferences. You do this by deleting the audacity.cfg file. It is a hidden file located in:
Documents and Settings<user name>Application DataAudacity
