ECHO
I ran Audacity on an Apple, perfect from the moment I plugged in. Now have an XP, always an echo if I want to overlap or just listen while recording OR just have mic on for sound check. What do I need to replace so I can actually use this program. I paid for my version, then downloaded beta. What's the point if you can't sing, talk or play an instrument at all 'cause the echo throws the time off.
Re: ECHO
Who did you pay? Did you make a donation ?zzzzzzz wrote:I paid for my version,
Audacity is free software.
There would clearly be no point at all, but it is most likely a set up problem rather than a fault with Audacity.zzzzzzz wrote:What's the point if you can't sing, talk or play an instrument at all 'cause the echo throws the time off.
Click on the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences"
Then go to the "Audio I/O" tab.
"software playthrough" should be switched OFF (not selected).
Does that fix the problem?
I don't understand what you are saying here - If you have your microphone switched on and live through your speakers, there is a very good chance that it will pick up sound from the speakers and cause problems.zzzzzzz wrote:OR just have mic on for sound check.

Re: ECHO
You may be complaining about the wrong thing. You're supposed to be complaining about delay between the pilot track and your voice. The fact that you're complaining about echoes means you're probably not wearing headphones.

That and PC's ability to record Mix-Out by accident will drive you nuts.
Windows Control Panel

Macs won't do this.
You stopped using your Mac because? Most people get fed up with PCs and go the other way.
