Unbalanced Mp3 sound

I have been having trouble exporting files as Mp3. The sound is unbalanced between channels, and I have to change the balance setting on winamp to 90% left of center. This results in a much quieter output but does give me stereo. Or two sides anyway. I followed the recommendations on the post about only one side coming out, (
http://audacityteam.org/forum/viewtopic ... =a&start=0 ) but no change. This happens on Audacity 1.2 and 1.3, and using Lame 3.96 and 3.97

The link that you posted is regarding exporting projects that have some tracks muted, or soloed. Is that what you are doing? If so, the the workaround is to select the tracks that you want Exported, and do not select the tracks that should be muted, then use "Export Selected".

No, I'm just exporting the whole project. Nothing muted.

I also tried uninstalling audacity, and cleaning the registry. Still 90% on the right side.

OK, so the link was a red herring
Try downloading this file, then open Audacity, import the downloaded file and then export it as an MP3.
When you have done that, upload the resulting mp3 somewhere on the internet and post a link so we can see what is being produced.
If you can't upload it, you may be able to post it as an attachment to your reply if you zip it.

Actually, nevermind. It's not audacity, there's something up with Winamp. silly me.

Thanks for your help though.

Oops - dodgy keyboard ("V" key sticks sometimes, and in haste didn't notice that the link had not pasted)
I take it that you're sorted now.
