Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Audacity 2.0 is now available and replaces all previous versions of Audacity. It includes several bug fixes so it is a recommended upgrade: http://audacityteam.org/download/

To tell Audacity to play back via the M-Audio Pro you will need to set the Placyback Output in the Device Toolbar to the M-Audio option (it may just be listed as a "USB" option). For help with the Device Toolbar: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Device_Toolbar

Audacity does not include any device drivers - it uses the standard computer sound system. If your sound card is correctly installed and working then that's all that Audacity needs.

Yes I'd recommend uninstalling Audacity 1.3.11 first. If you have a standard installation of 1.3.11 you should be able to do that through the Windows Control Panel (Add/Remove Software, or whatever they call it these days).

Your Preference settings should still remain after uninstalling 1.3.11 so that they are picked up by Audacity 2.0.
You can download Audacity 2.0 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
