Error in importing

I am trying to import an mp3 file that I ripped off a CD-R and an error box comes up saying audacity "recognized the type of file, importers suppssedly supporting such files are: mp3, FFmpeg-compatible files, but none of them understood this file format"
How do you get around this error? I have a couple CDs that were recorded/burned the same and one's files worked and this one didn't.

Set your CD ripper to rip in WAV format.
