Problems recording from Ion turntable

Post by admira » Sun Feb 26, 2012 8:01 am

Hi all

I have recently changed to a Windows 7 PC but cannot get my Ion iTTUSB turntable to record via Audacity.

Previously it worked OK on my XP box. Audacity version is 1.3.13-beta.

Settings in preferences are:

DEVICES TAB:
Host: MME
Playback: Speakers (Realtek High Def)
Recording: Microphone (USB Audio CODEC)
Channels: 2 (Stereo)

RECORDING TAB:
Software Playthrough: Checked

An example of the horrible noise that is being recorded is attached. Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Is that the only sound that is recorded, or is that the background noise of your recording?

That noise sounds like power supply interference. If your computer is a laptop the noise will probably go away if you run it on batteries.

Regarding getting sound from the turntable there are a number of suggestions here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/USB_turntables
