Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Metadata entries "lost"

Post by bipau » Tue Feb 21, 2012 2:57 pm

Audacity 1.3.14(Beta) .. Audio tracks from vinyl recorded separately, and labelled in the Label Track(number and title) and Metadata in Export to Desktop show correctly on desktop, with track number and title.
In Windows Media Player they appear with correct track number and title. The Album records as Unknown. Other programs give the correct number tracks and play ok. All other listed information is shown as unknown. The same applies after the disk is recorded. For a portable CD Player the track number is sufficient, but it seems a pity to type in Metadata only for it to disappear into the ether. Have I missed something?

Metadata is always something of a crap shoot except in Music CDs. Music CDs do not carry Metadata. They seem to carry titles, etc, because if you play a CD in a computer, the computer looks up the music on-line and gives you all the information. That's why it doesn't work so well in your car. Some players have a setting [X] Look Up Music Title and Artist? That's what it's doing.

There is a special format of CD that can impress data as well as music, but they're a little weird and they may not play everywhere and your burner has to support it, too.

Also, tags come in two forms, more complete and more compatible.

Here's a thing on tags.
