Adjacent segments sometimes join

Post by glrothman » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:44 pm

I have individual program elements that need to be right next to each other, but I need to be able to isolate them later to move or replace them. Problem is, sometimes i'll find adjacent have joined together into one, so I have to go in and do a split. Is this a bug? Is there a way to avoid it? Or do I just need to use more tracks?

Thanks,

Gordon

You can put labels at the join points. Control-B. Labels are sticky and they will guide your cursor to the edit point. You can also use multiple tracks. The show is in snippets and back to back in the show, but they're on different tracks top to bottom on the timeline. Use the Time Shift Tool to move the snippets earlier and later in time to match the rest of the show. Each track remains separate and you can manage, filter and export individually however you wish.

If you click on. or very near the meeting point of two audio clips in the same audio track, they will "join" to become one audio clip. This is an intended feature that allows easy joining of audio clips. If you have some very short audio segment in an audio track, you may need to be careful to not click on, or too close to the line where the audio clips meet. If you inadvertently join two audio clips together, you can use Ctr+Z to Undo the joining. If you need to select one of the audio clips, ensure that you are zoomed in far enough that you can click within the audio clip without inadvertently causing them to join to the adjacent audio clip.
