I am using Audacity 1.3.14 on WIndows7.
I have recorded an LP and split it into 4 tracks by analysing silence and then editting the labels. So that I have four label bars each with a different name, under the main recording two sterio bars,
I then do some effects as described in tutorial and Export Multiple. ( as WAV) and select using label/track name checkbox.
But I only get one single file with all the tracks in it.
I am sure I am doing something stupid but I just can't figure out what it is and it is driving me mad.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Export Multiple only exports a single file

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Re: Export Multiple only exports a single file
Labels are a very special thing in Audacity. They're not just a place to put words.
You have to place a formal Label (Control-B) at the beginning of each place you want a song to start. Then File > Export Multiple should give you the same number of different files that you have labels.
Just to clear the decks, start a fresh Audacity and Generate > Noise > OK. Then several places on the timeline at random, press Control-B. Then File > Export Multiple. That work better?
Put the prefix in the right-hand dialog box like "MyMusic" or "ElvisInHawaii" or "NoiseTest." You should not use forbidden characters or dates in that dialog box because those characters turn into filenames. Upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore or dash. Those are unconditionally safe characters. Do not use a slash "/" anywhere.

Re: Export Multiple only exports a single file
Oh Thankyou. What a relief.
I put (CTRL B) labels on top the things I had thought were labels but in the first of the track label bars and deleted the bottom three track label bars and it has now exported multiple files. I am not quite sure how they got there - I think the analyze silence created them.
The recording has gone a bit too quiet now - probably the normalize I did. Perhaps I will have to start again, but thats my inexperience.
Thank you getting the mulitple export working for me.

Re: Export Multiple only exports a single file
Sit down, take a breath, make a cup of tea and then have a good read of this set of tutorials from the 1.3/2.0 manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tuto ... iscs_to_CD
That should get you sorted.
