Many problems 1 No option for mp3

Post by helpmeplease111 » Tue Feb 14, 2012 11:05 pm

Hi I not a big computer user but have sucessfully loaded this program before but for me it the most fustrating program yet the best one if I can get it to work. I have windows7 32 bit. I have downloaded audacity http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.14.exe but it wont let me load it in program file it loads it somewhere else does this matter. Also load lame http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/Lame_v3.99.3_for_Windows.exe again it wont let me load it in programe files administrator wont let me so i load it in the same place as the other. I set it up and all but carnt find it open anywhere the lame_enc.dll anywhere. When useing adacity when I record and then try to export there is no option for mp3 it opens to the adacity file where it give me help, languages, modules, nyquist, plugins. I just want to use it for recording my old cassettes onto the computer.

Do you have Administrative rights on the computer? (Do you know the Administrator password?)
If you do, then all you (should) need to do is to run the .exe (installation) files and follow the on-screen instructions and entering the Administrator password when prompted.

As with most programs on Windows 7, to install the program correctly you will need Administrative access, however if you don't it is still possible to use Audacity, though it requires a different procedure to set it up.

OK, I'll try to be gentle :)
Do you know what a "ZIP" file is and how to "extract" a ZIP file?

Can you right-click over this link:
http://lame1.buanzo.com.ar/lame_enc.dll

then choose "Save Target as" or "Save link as". A window opens. Can you find your way from there using the buttons or links on the left to open the folder you have Audacity installed in - the one with the "help" and "modules" folders and audacity.exe. Save lame_enc.dll in that folder Audacity is installed in. Audacity should then recognise the lame file.

This may take some time, but if we go through a step at a time we have a good chance of success.

So what is the current situation with Audacity?
You said that you had trouble installing it (to be expected if you don't have Admin rights).
Are you able to run Audacity?

Did you install Windows 7 on the computer? Whoever did that has an administrator account and knows the password.
