Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

That last post didn't come out the way I typed it, sorry about that.
It should read:

Audio Host: NME

Output Device: Realtek HD Audio Rear output

Input Device: Line in/Mic in: Line 1 or 2

Input Channels: 2 (Stereo) Input Channels

You mean "MME" ?

I find that surprising. I'd have expected that you would need it set to:
"Realtek HD Audio Front output"

" Line in/Mic in: Line 1 or 2" is that all one option?
What are the other options in that menu?

Yes, MME for Audio host. (I read that wrong)
The other option is Windows DirectSound

There are only two settings for Output Device:
1. Microsoft Sound Mapper – Output
2. Realtek HD Audio rear output

For Input Device, the other choices besides ‘Line in/Mic in: line 1 or 2’ are:

1. Microsoft Sound Mapper-Input

2. Line in/Mic in: CD Player

3. Line in/Mic in: Microphone

4. Line in/Mic in: Stereo Mix

I could really do with being able to see the Windows Mixer, particularly the Recording and Playback screens. Any chance you could investigate making screenshots of them?

Yes, I will work on screenshots, and when I am able to do them I will put them up.
