pause during recording

Hi,
To pause recording or playback I should press the Transport Toolbar Pause button or shortcut P.
Pausing playback works ok.
Pausing recording doesn't work at all.
Question: how can I pause during recording.

I'm also am using Audacity 1.3.14 on a Windows 7 system and pausing a recording is working fine for me. So I suspect that the cause of the problem lies somewhere in your system rather than it being a fault in Audacity. It would help to know more about your exact version of Windows 7. If you have the Computer icon on your desktop, double-click that and then click on "System properties". You should get a window full of information about your system. Which "Windows Edition" do you have, and from further down that display, what "System type" - 32-bit or 64-bit. This extra information should give the real Windows specialists on the forum something to work on when they read your reply.
