Strange electrical sparking noise when opening Audacity
Is this normal? The sound seems to be coming from the back of my PC, near the PSU, or somewhere around the graphics card region. My old computer did this too, so i'm going to assume it is a functional part of the software; perhaps some hardware preparing itself, however I felt it prudent to register an account here just to be on the safe side and ask.

Snapping sound like breaking a pencil? No that's not normal. Only when opening Audacity?
Describe in more detail. "I launch Audacity from the shortcut on the desktop and it makes one snapping sound just before the work window opens up."

Right, Please accept my sincerest apologies, I don't mean to waste any ones time but I've somehow managed to fix it!
The problem was lying with my Xonar D2X Sound Card. I tweaked loads of things. Disabled a lot of recording devices like SP/DIF in, alt, aux, stereo mix, cd, etc that I wasn't using. Changed the bit rates to 24-bit (and the same on Audacity) and set all bit-depths to 96Khz on Windows and on the program itself.
Don't get me wrong; I didn't make this thread before 'trying' to solve the issue - I've had it for some time. Perhaps I fixed nothing and it's simply gone away for now. Anyhow feel free to delete this thread now
