In looking at the following requirements to run Audacity on Windows 7 it appears most of them I can identify as having, but not sure of the one noted in red below.

I run Windows Ultimate 64 bit.
In addition the computer itself is a Dell Studio XPS 8000

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit), or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

So again not sure about the DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
Where would I officially look to determine this?

Looks like my drivers for audio are contained in R230371 > Vista64
So I am assuming they are 64bit.

Just want to make sure everything is in place before full steam ahead with the install.

Audacity runs on most Windows computers, so I say give it a try! (It runs on most other computers too!!!)

Click the Start button.
In the search field, type dxdiag and hit Enter.
The DirectX diagnostics program should start.
On the "System" tab you'll find the DirectX version and the WDDM version is shown on the "Display" tab.

Just to add that as you have 64-bit Windows 7, you'll want to click the "Run 64-bit DxDiag" button to make sure your 64-bit drivers are OK.

The "Sound" tab of DxDiag is also probably the easiest place to find the "Vendor ID" of your computer sound device, which can sometimes be useful if you need replacement drivers for your sound device.

The drivers for the audio device need to be 64-bit too.

OK in doing that it says I have Direct X 11 ( I just assume that's the latest version and I do have the do have WDDM 1.0.

So will Direct X 11 work? At least I assume it will.

Yep the 64 dxdiag button confirmed I have 64 bit drivers and all was OK.
