Audacity Forum

Downloaded Audacity OK to new, decent performance laptop (Pentium i5, 8GB memory).
Recording signal is there, but 'pulse'-like, similar to a mic that cuts out, but in a regular pattern.
Have tried lowering input signal to practically nothing, but makes no difference.
Recording source has been checked on another recorder and is fine. Even the sound output from the laptop is unaffected.
Also, internet connection was lost after downloading, although it was restored without problems, so might be irrelevant.
Any advice appreciated.

That sounds like you left Windows Conferencing running. Scan down this to "Conferencing". It's being edited, but you get the idea.

I tried the Sound & Recording Devices settings but can't fix it.
However you've sent me in the right direction as it definitely is the computer, not Audacity so I've gone to the Windows forum for further advice.
