I have a prerecorded song that has a very strong piano volume that overshadows the vocals and guitar. Can Audacity do anything to tone down the piano and bring out the vocals? I've played with the filters and amplification but it doesn't help a great deal. I'm a total beginner at all of this so any simplified step by step advice (if possible) is much appreciated!

No. Once you have a mixed song -- everything in one track, you're stuck with the mix. If you created the song and have the individual instrument tracks, then you create a new mix after readjusting the volumes.
