How to get Stereo Mix to show up? (Already read the FAQ)
Hi, My name is Tom and I am trying to record the sounds off my computer. I tried looking all over the internets for help but nothing has worked for me. I right clicked in recording devices and selected show disabled devices and such, but nothing has shown up. I already read "FAQ: How to record the speaker output (YouTube)" but it did not help me. I am using windows 7 ultimate and my sound card is the "High Definition Audio Device". Can anybody help me out?

Not all computers offer Stereo-Mix. If yours doesn't, then you can add software such as Total Recorder...

or FreeCorder.
You can also resort to the cable loop-back trick where you connect your stereo Line-Out to your stereo Line-In with a short cable (green socket to blue socket). This works on large Windows Desktop machines and Macs, but not most Windows laptops.

I guess you've already found this bit in the manual: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... _Issues#cp
If you try all the suggestions there and you still don't see an option for Stereo Mix (sometimes called "Mix" or "What U Hear") then your computer probably does not have that option and you'll have to use one of the workarounds.
