Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Plug-ins

Hello Everyone,

I need a quick and easy recording software to use at home to capture song ideas, so I thought I'd give Audacity a try. The problem is that I can not load any VSTs. I have followed the directions and tried to load about 10 different VSTs. I always get an "unexpected error" message and nothing will load. I am using Windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You posted to the 1.2 Board. Please use the latest 1.3.14 Beta for Windows 7:
http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.14.exe

then see:
http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/VST_Plug-ins#beta .

1.3.14 has better support for VST plug-ins, but it does not support VST instruments.

If you still have a problem please give us the web address of some of the problem plug-ins.

I guess I posted in the wrong place. Sorry about that. I do have the latest version of Audacity. I'll try to find the right place for the post. Thanks.

Never mind, I've moved the topic to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum.

Regarding the problem, see the rest of Gale's post.
