Audacity with Avid Eleven Rack - no wet signal

Post by Captain Underpants » Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:12 am

Hi guys. I'm running 1.3.14 Beta in Vista Business and I'm trying to get an Avid Eleven Rack working.
Although Audacity sees the Eleven Rack unit I'm only getting a dry guitar signal through to record. According to the manual of the Avid audio drivers (page 8 of the link below) I'm supposed to see various options for input to enable me to select a 'wet' guitar signal.

http://akmedia.digidesign.com/support/d ... _66726.pdf

All I get is just a single input option. Playback works fine and I've gone through the Eleven Rack manual to make sure that's set up properly. I've also re installed the drivers properly. BTW, the unit works perfectly with Pro Tools.

Hope someone could help me out here?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for posting the link (saves us from having to search on line for the manual ;) )

Page 8 refers to using ASIO drivers. Unfortunately Audacity cannot be distributed with ASIO support due to licensing reasons, so you are limited to using the WaveDriver MME. The MME drivers will give you basic functionality (recording the dry signal) but do not support the advanced options offered by ASIO. As it says at the start of page 8, for the advanced options described there you need to use an ASIO compatible host (such as Reaper, Cubase, Sonar, Wavosaur ....).
