I have 1.3.14 with win XP. I need step by step on saveing the recording. It is saved in recent files, but can't export it to My music or music maker. Everytime I find it in a file, it says already open in another file.

That sounds like trying to open an Audacity project that is already open in another window.
What 1.3 version of Audacity are you using (see Help > About Audacity). Is it 1.3.14, 1.3.13, or what number after the "1.3."?
What format are you trying to export to - WAV, MP3? To export MP3 you need to add LAME to your computer following these instructions:
http://audacityteam.org/help/faq?s=install&i=lame-mp3 .
If you still get an error using File > Export, what does the error say? Does it say you might be out of disk space?

Am using 1.3.14 with win XP. I need to export the music files as wav into a location such as MY MUSIC or whatever would be appriate. Then I could bring up that file for effects or burning. I would like a step by step from getting the recording to the burn cd action. I cannot find these exact steps in a tutorial. Do I need to name a project before I record? This probably sounds elementry but I would really appreciate some help.

So you have accomplished the recording step successfully?

OS is winfows XP Audacuty 1.3.14

Export to screen is open
Save in My Music
Save as type WAV 16 bit
File name tune A
The only option is save
I click save
tune A appears under my music. I right click on this file. I click opoen in the dropdown box.
I get the message that this file already exists, do I want to replace it.

in what program does the file appear where you right-click on it? In Windows Explorer?

Is this in Audacity, if so in File > Open or File > Import > Audio?

You would only get a message about a WAV file existing if you were exporting it. Is that what you were doing there?
braavo wrote:I click my computer>my music, tune A is not there
Is this after exporting the WAV and agreeing to replace it? Did you see any error in Audacity when you tried to export it?
You know that in Windows the file name will say only "Tune A", not "Tune A.WAV?
