Hello,
I have recently upgraed my PC from an HP Pavillion running XP and Audacity 1.2 to a HP Touchsmart 520-1030uk RUNNING wINDOWS 7 using Audacity 1.3.14. I record podcasts from my NuMARK idj2 and this worked perfectly with my old PC. However on my new PC the quality of the recording is no-where near comparable to what I used to get, I have tried recording through the microphone jack and also through a Behringer ufo202 to a USB and bypassed the soundcard but nothing seems to work. I have also enabled the "StereoMix" option in my Audio devices menu but Audacity picks up nothing when I do this. I also spoke to HP support who said nothing aart from "it's not the pc" but considering this is the only thing that has changed that would seem unlikely.
Any help that anyone could give me would be massively appreciated!!
Thanks in anticipation
Justin Palmer

Stereo Mix is the setting used for recording internet shows or music, not personal recording.
Pink Mic-In doesn't work, either.
Scan down through this (it's an early draft):
