When i record the recording is not centred on the audio track and the quality of the recording is poor ive attached a screenshot. help would be appreciated. ive looked into it and some sites say its dc offset caused by a faulty soundcard but this same problem has occured before and i fixed it but dont know how i did so i dont think its the soundcard.

Yes that is DC off-set.
It is often caused by a faulty sound card, though I've seen cases where the cause is the sound card drivers. Let's hope it's the drivers.
If you have a branded computer, go to the computer manufacturers web site and get the most up to date drivers for your machine and operating system.
If the sound card is an "after market" addition that you put into your computer, go to the sound card manufacturers web site.
If the computer is unbranded and is using an "on board" sound card (built into the mother board), go to the mother board manufacturers web site for the latest drivers.

What exactly sorted it out? Updating the sound card drivers?
