Confused about getting from iTunes to Audacity

Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.
The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Confused about getting from iTunes to Audacity
Hi, hoping for a quick response since I'm in the middle of attempting this. You may just call me "N. Ept." I've successfully imported from a CD into iTunes, but am confused about how to get tracks from iTunes into an Audacity project to start editing. Any help out there for us dummies?

Re: Confused about getting from iTunes to Audacity
You need to find your "iTunes Library" folder - that's where the MP3s are. I'll leave it to the Windows elves to give you the specifics if needed.

Re: Confused about getting from iTunes to Audacity
Everybody gets this wrong because it's "downhill" to make music for an iPod, not further production.
Step one is prevent iTunes from compressing the work. Just rip the CD, stop helping me after that.
iTunes Preferences > Import CD > Settings > WAV Format (not MP3, not AIFF, not AAC).
Put the CD in and Right-Click > Open With > iTunes or just say yes if it offers. Don't let it open in Windows Media. You may need to go into My Computer to find the CD after it mounts. I'm not next to a Windows machine.
After the music arrives in iTunes > Music, drag them out onto the desktop. It will take a second for iTunes to format the WAV files.
Right-Click a song > Open With > Audacity, and use the current Audacity 1.3. Not anything earlier.
The format on a Music CD is 44100, 16-bit, Stereo and that should be the format of the music on the desktop.
