Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Equalization curves

Post by rivera42 » Thu Dec 22, 2011 9:47 pm

On previous editions of Audacity, there were some pre-set equalization curves, i.e. EMI 78, that I enjoyed using. Those do not seem to be available on this Beta version. Is there any way to import those curves?

Yes there is.

Start Audacity. Import a track or generate a track so you can access the Equalization effect.

Do Effect > Equalization
Click the "Save / Manage Curves" button
In the "Manage Curves" window, click "Get More ..."
- that will take you to the Audacity wiki page for EQ curves
On that page you will see "EQ Curves for old recordings"
Below that is a link "'record' EQ curves"
- right-click on that link and download the XML file to a convenient place on your hard drive
Return to Audacity
In the Manage Curves window, click "Import ..."
Locate the "EQRecord.xml" file you downloaded from the wiki and click the "Open" button.

The old 78 RPM curves should now be available.
