hello,
i have just completed the first try at editing a song. i have removed the offending words, about 2 sec. worth. how do i shorten the final copy so there is no gap where i took out the words?

How did you take out the words?
I do it by drag-selecting the word in the blue waves on the timeline and press DEL. That automatically closes up the hole and shortens the show.
Be sure and make a backup WAV file of your show before you start editing and never record an edited show over old work or original capture files.
