Problems with the Input Level meter

Post by mikehudd » Mon Dec 19, 2011 3:59 pm

Hi
I recently picked up a virus on my computer and had to have it rebuilt entailing re-installing all the programmes.
So far the only problem I have encountered is with Audacity. When recording, the trace for the left (top) channel appears as the top half of the waveform sitting on the bottom of the box instead of above the centre line. The part of the waveform that you would normally see beneath the centre line seems to have disappeared completely. Also the Input Level meter for the left channel seems to be permanently fixed on max when in record mode (coloured bar completely filling the box) even when no signal is being fed in. The right channel seems to be behaving normally.
I have tried making a test recording and on playback nothing can be heard from the left channel at all; the right hand channel is working perfectly. I have tried un-installing and re-installing the programme but the results are exactly the same.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation,

Mike Hudd
