Hello, i've trying to record in stereo with my piano. I have a 1/8 " to 1/8" jack connecting my blue input jack on my computer to a 1/8" to 1/4" stereo adapter. the 1/4" adapter is plugged into piano's headphone jack. when i'm playing, i listen through my computers headphone jack and it sounds fine. but when i play it back it sounds weird. listen to the recording i attached. thanks for your help.

Welcome to Windows Corporate Conferencing Services. Windows thinks your playing is "air conditioning noise" and is trying its best to cancel it out. You can dig down and find the settings in the Windows Control Panels and turn it off.

If you have a "keyboard" rather than a real piano, you can hold one low organ note down for an extended period and watch it gargle and vanish on the recorded timeline.

Chances are the headphones are coming directly from the sound card, but the playback is coming from the computer.

Windows sound settings are often optimised for VoIP (internet calls) using programs such as Skype, but these settings can interfere with high quality microphone recordings of music. Turn off all VoIP enhancements and any other sound effects unless they are essential:

Right-click over "Microphone" and choose "Properties" then look for an "Enhancements" tab where you can "Disable all sound effects" (if necessary, also look in the "Levels" or "Custom" tabs and on the main "Playback" tab for unwanted sound effects)

The controls to fix this can be in the soundcard section (e.g. click on "SoundMax") ...



Then disable any "Microphone Enhancements" / "Voice Recording" or similar sounding options, and tick "No Filtering" if it exists.

works now without any weird sound. i have a Realtek audio sound card. this is what i did.

go to microphone tab:
turn off "noise suppresion" and "aucostic echo cancelation"
go to mixer tab
mute "line volume", "front mic", and "microphone" and only leave stero unmuted.
