strange recording problem.

Post by dogtown » Tue Dec 13, 2011 8:56 pm

i've got my mixer plugged into my laptop, audacity set on 'mic line in'

now when i record for the first time its fine, if i delete the file and record again, its all poppy and cracky/jumpy, like it hasnt recorded properly.

now if i close Audacity and open again, then record its fine, but again for the first time only.

any ideas??

"mic line in" is a contradiction in terms. You do want to connect to a stereo line-level input on the computer.

When you "delete the file", please tell us exactly what you do.

What is the Audacity "Project Rate" bottom left of the screen?

Suppose you record first for one minute, stop. press [X] to left of the track to delete it, then record again for one minute. Suppose the "again" track is crackly. If you restart Audacity and then record a single track for two minutes or even longer, is that first track still OK?

Might a Windows sound enhancement be the problem? See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ: ... hancements .
