Playback

Hi, Being completely new to this and a bit thick when it comes to computers I need some help please. I have hundreds of old 78s that I thought I would copy onto my computer and then get rid of the records.
Got myself a usb turntable and downloaded Audacity and after a bit of experimenting copied a track onto my computer, Things went so well I thought this was going to be easy, however, I exported the file as an MP3 file and also a wav file. These play back through Audacity perfectly well but when I try to play them back through Real Player or Media Player there is no sound. What am I doing wrong. I can only assume that there is no point in burning them to a cd as there would be no sound. Help please.

Is this a USB turntable by any chance?? If so then try unplugging it from your PC before playing the music in Real Player or Media Player.

See this FAQ: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/FAQ:Recording#USB
