I tested yesterday the timer recording feature, and I would like to give a problem report here:
I wanted to stop the recording sooner then I set it up in the recorder. There is a STOP and a CANCEL button in the timer recording window, when it is running.
But after pushing the "stop", the recording went on, and the timer stopped. So there was no countdown anymore, but the software seemed to be stuck. I checkt the activity in the task manager of windows XP, and the software (audacity) was mentioned as "running" (and not as "not responding").
I waited for about 1h, as I didn't wanted to destroy what I had recorded, but then decided to stop it from the task manager of windows.
I was lucky, because audacity found the unsaved project and did an automatical recovery. That's a great feature that saved my work!

Re: timer recording issue
Sounds like Audacity froze.
Try updating "Audacity to audacity-win-unicode-1.3.14rc1.exe " available from here: http://code.google.com/p/audacity/downl ... e&can=2&q= (this is due to be officially released in the next few days as Audacity 1.3.14 and contains a number of bug fixes)
