I downloaded Audacity 1.3.x(beta) however, it isn't installing.
All files are in a folder on my desktop. I click on the audacity.exe, but it only opens a Run dialogue window. It doesn't install.
When I look at the actual folder, it says Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode) Have I downloaded an incorrect file?
Your help would be most appreciated.

Re: Installation
No, I did not download a zip file. I downloaded the one you have suggested which is an .exe file. I do not like downloading .exe files at all.
However, I have the files in a folder and there is the audacity.exe which I thought when I clicked it, it would install the software but it only 'runs'. Do you have any idea what the problem may be please.
I could not find anything on FAQs for my problem.

Re: Installation
When you download the Audacity 1.3.13 installer, it is just one file. The file is called "audacity-win-unicode-1.3.13.exe". It is just one file. Double clicking on that file will install Audacity and the manual.mel_aus wrote:I have the files in a folder and there is the audacity.exe which I thought when I clicked it, it would install the software but it only 'runs'.
If you download the Audacity 1.3.13 zip file, it is an "archive file" called ""audacity-win-unicode-1.3.13.zip" (note that the only difference in the file name is the file extension - in this case ".zip" and not ".exe"). When you double click on this file it will open the archive revealing a folder full of files. The manual is not included.
Unfortunately, by default, Windows hides the file extension.
Here are instructions for how to show the file extension in Windows XP: http://www.fileinfo.com/help/windows_show_extensions

Re: Installation
Thank you for your response.
I removed the first Audacity folder/files and started over. I followed your instructions to the letter and I'm glad to say, Audacity installed perfectly. I obviously did not do it correctly initially. Again, thank you.
