Audacity 1.3.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Quiet Time Recording

Post by Dendrite » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:23 am

I am recording cassette tapes to my PC. Using Windows 7 and Audacity 1.3.x (Beta). I don't know what I've done to the settings but Audacity stops recording when there is a silence on the tape. Now this is ok most of the time but when I have a recording that has a very quiet intro or some quiet sections during the track then Audacity goes into pause mode and then restarts when the music gets louder. Is there a setting where I can ask Audacity to ignore the silence and keep recording? Thanks.

Go to Edit > Preferences> Recording and uncheck the box next to "Sound Activated Recording"

See this page in the manual: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Reco ... references
