Not able to down load help manual

Hi
I am using Audacity Beta 1.3 ( unicode ) currently. My operating system is Windows XP home, SP3.

I have spent an hour trying to download the help manual to Audacity and make it an integral part of the programme. However, the zipped help manual does not show up under the HELP drop down menu in the programme. I have followed down load instructions but this is not working.

Can I get some advice on how overcome this problem,please?

There are times when I need to refer to the useer manual whilst working on a file.

If you downloaded audacity 1.3.13 (latest beta) from audacity website, then it should include the manual. On Audacity if you go to the Help menu and select "Manual" doesn't it open the manual in your web browser?

Thanks a lot for your response. I am using the latest version of Audacity. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but it does not, somehow, down load the help manual.

When I clickon the "Manual", nothing happens! May be there is something wrong with my PC. Any suggestions/advice is much appreciated.

The manual is not included in the ZIP version of Audacity 1.3.x (this is to make the ZIP version a smaller download). The manual is included in the .EXE installer which is available here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Assuming you downloaded the .exe installer (http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/au ... 1.3.13.exe) then clicking Help > Manual (in web browser) should either open your web browser or you should get a window that says Audacity cannot find the Manual.

If really *nothing* happens that probably means there is no program associated with html (web) files. Open the folder you installed Audacity into. Assuming you see a "help" folder, open it. Assuming you see a "manual" folder, open it. Now double-click on "index.html". If nothing happens, right-click over "index.html", choose "Open with" then "Choose default program". Select your web browser, make sure "Always use the selected program..." is checked, then click OK.
