I'm just starting out using audacity and pretty new to this type of recording and don't know a great deal about computers, so sorry if I seem to be wasting anyone's time here. I have windows 7 (64 bit) and audacity 1.3.13. I can import wav files and record guitar through the line in and mic jacks via 1/4" - 1/8" but I can't get anything through the guitar/usb interface adapter I just bought. The usb connection shows up in my device manager and in audacity, but I don't get any sound or signal. What am I doing wrong? I'd really appriciate any help no matter how simple it may be. Thanks a bunch!

What is the make and model number of the usb interface adaptor?

Have you turned the input slider up in Audacity while the USB interface is selected as recording device?

Have you right-clicked over the loudspeaker icon by the system clock > Recording Devices, right-clicked over the USB Device > Properties, clicked the "Levels" tab, then made sure the device is unmuted and the slider turned up?

If that does not help, have you checked the USB cable is working correctly? Does it work with another USB device?
