Recording from USB turntable problem

Hello,

My first post on here as I am usually able to sort most things myself :)

I have had to reinstal my Windows after a crash and then download everything I had again...what a pain!

Anyway, I installed the new beta Audacity for Vista and sorted everything as per before, got sound OK but when recording my vinyl I noticed it starts automatically instead of waiting for me to action it :(

What I normall did before was cue up the record, press pause and record then let the record start and release the pause button and the record downloads into my PC.

Hope someone can advise as I am in the process of putting my vast vinyl collection on my computer.

Regards,

Lenny

Why not just press the Record button when you're ready to record?
Is it because you want to check the recording level first? If so, then just click on the recording meter to activate it (while Audacity is stopped - no need to press pause or record while you do this).

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that. I use Linux and "pause and record" works in the way that you expect it to. Perhaps it is a quirk of Vista?
