That's not why you're PMing me. Just say Hi.

This is a complete, original track recorded on Audacity this morning (except for editing my name off the beginning and end). You can hear the clicks or pops from about 11to 17 seconds into the recording.

Our AUP music format doesn't post well. You'll need to post either a lightly compressed MP3, or better, the original WAV files.

Those are definitely clicks in the recording. You can see one of them in the middle of the selection here:

If you find one of the clicks in the original recording (before converting to MP3) you will probably find that the disjuncture is even more abrupt. It's as if a small piece of audio is missing. Unfortunately there are several possible causes for this type of problem, most of which are covered in this article: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Manag ... nd_Drivers

I've just read through this thread again and see that the problem is on your Win 7 laptop. As you're using Win 7, the first thing that I would check would be the sound card drivers as that is probably the most common cause on Win 7 machines. (see link in my previous post).

I'm also having issues with 'clicks and pops', when downloading music from a VAAS cassette tape player to a PC. The clicks and pops are NOT on the cassette (I verified it by playing it thru my home stereo. They are not always in the same location either (if I try and record the same music more than once). This renders the entire process worthless. If someone have an idea or a fix I'd really like to give it/them a try. Thanks in advance for everyone's help. p.s. I'm on load 1.3 beta. Tried the old load also, same result.

Thanks for checking out the audio sample and for the suggested solutions. My laptop drivers were already up to date. I'm now thinking the problem has something to do with my digital interface, the M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Their forum seems to have quite a few people asking about clicks and pops. Unfortunately, they do not have a simple solution. I feel like I need an IT guy to translate their suggestions for me.

I again tried recording today on my Gateway desktop with Windows Vista. There are clicks but they are much fewer, farther between and not as loud. Still not a solution but it might cut down on some work for now.

Another question: I just put Audacity on the desktop computer very recently and need to download/install the LAME MP3 decoder. I have been trying to go to the LAME download page this afternoon but it is not coming up. Is there an issue with with that site?

Yes it looks like there is currently a problem there. The problem is unlikely to last more than a day or perhaps two so please try again later.
