I'm editing my sister's wedding video, which was recorded with a crappy 8mm vidcam. The audio has some pretty bad issues, but im not sure what it's called so I can look up how to fix it. Basically, when the volume gets really loud (higher than the mic could handle), it gets all garbled -- sounds kinda tinny. Any idea what that's called? Clip of the audio with aforementioned problem included.

#2. You can't reverse them.

I'm fascinated the sound was that bad. That's the kind of damage you get trying to shoot a weapon's grade music system at a Gallows Punk concert. The camera could have been broken, or it could have been set for manual adjustment -- and set wrong. That's probably where I would have left the automatics running.

There's no show. There is Effects > Clip-Fix, but when I tried it, the tool went wimpering in the corner. It actually made the show worse. It recognized there were severe errors, but had no clue how to fix it.

It's overload with a clipping side dish.

These sound waves are not supposed to be squared off top and bottom.

thx much mate... like i said, it's crappy old 8mm cams, so... not really surprising. it's at least better than the source, believe me.
