File Corruption after plug-in attempt

Hello,

So I attempted to download and install LADSPA plug-ins into my 1.3, on a windows os. Now, I followed the instructions and placed them into the appropriate folders and ever since this, when I go to open up an audacity project it takes an extremely long time to open and the sound files, when they appear, look as if they have been photoshopped using a negative filter, which makes the visual deciphering of the files impossible. Anyone have any experience with this problem or any solutions? Thanks!

Are you on Audacity 1.2.6 or 1.3.13? (see Help > About Audacity; you posted in the 1.2 board). What version of Windows exactly?

It's best on Windows that you put the LADSPA plug-ins in the "Plug-Ins" folder inside your Audacity installation folder. From memory. the LADSPA Multiband EQ might crash Audacity, but the plug-ins should not cause delay opening projects and will not affect the waveform before you apply the effects.

If you import WAV or AIFF files into 1.3 and read them directly from their location instead of copying them into the project, the files should appear almost at once, with a hatched pattern that goes away as the waveform is drawn. See http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/On-Demand_Loading.

Have you installed any other effects like VST?

If you are still concerned, please attach an image of what you see ("Upload attachment" underneath where you post).

Hey, Thanks for your reply.

So I posted incorrectly before. The plug-ins I installed were VST plug-ins. I am running Windows XP and I am using 1.3. I placed the plug-ins into audacity's plugin folder and then the image that you will see has come up for each file I try to open. This is also after deleting the plugins from the computer and re installing audacity....

I moved this to the 1.3 board for Windows.

This is nothing to do with installation of plug-ins. It is a setting, but Audacity settings persist after reinstallation . Click Edit > Preferences, choose "Tracks" on the left, then change "Default View Mode" from "Spectrogram" to one of the "Waveform" choices (the one that says just "Waveform" is the default). This won't change the current track, only new ones.
