Hello,
I have a mp3 file that is a little over 60 minutes. I am trying to split it into tracks of 5 minutes.
To do this, I
1. Imported the Mp3 file
2. Clicked on Analyze - choose split for 300 second intervals
3. Clicked on file - export multiple
4. Screen can up asking to click OK but nothing happens
Not sure what I need to do.
Thank you

Analyze > Regular Interval Labels > 300 sec.
All that does is launch a label track with the appropriate labels in it. Do you get that? It's on the bottom beneath the music tracks. If you don't get the label track, the Export tools don't do a thing.

Thank you. I do get the label tracks.
After this, I click on File -> Export Multiple. I get a screen with meta data. I click on "OK" button but nothing happens.

What settings do you have in the Export Multiple screen?
Unless you specifically want to edit the Metadata for each exported file, it is easier to switch off the Metadata Editor.
To do this, go to "Edit > Preferences > Import/Export" and deselect the "Show Metadata Editor prior to export step".

Re: Help for a not so smart user
1. Import the Mp3 file
2. select the first 5 minutes
3. Click File>>Export Selection
4. select the next 5 minutes, etc.
There might be quicker ways to do it, but i do everything the hard way.

Yes there is a quicker way:jimijack100 wrote: There might be quicker ways to do it
First, switch off (deselect) "Show Metadata Editor prior to export step" in Preferences ("Edit > Preferences > Import/Export")
You only need to do this once as Audacity will save this setting until you change it.
Then:
- "Analyze > Regular Interval Labels"
- File > Export Multiple
